How to calm a baby? |
There are many ways to calm your child, including the following:
swaddling:
The baby can be placed in a large, thin blanket, and asked the nurse or doctor to explain how to do this correctly. Swaddling is a soothing trick, intended to simulate the narrowing of the uterine contour that surrounds the baby for 24 hours a day throughout pregnancy.
Babies cannot control the movement of their limbs smoothly, and their movements are irregular, and this is what makes them cry.
Although many babies may resist swaddling in the first moments, it calms down after a short while.
Massage:
Massage can soothe a baby, as many babies like skin-to-skin contact. Some studies show that massage can reduce crying babies and make them sleep better.
This is done by undressing the child, and massaging him with slow and steady movements on the legs, arms, back, chest, and face.
And be sure to consult your pediatrician before using any kind of oils or lotions to massage the child.
The child can be carried and placed on his left side, to help him in the process of digestion, and gently rub his back.
Change diet:
Some foods may cause allergies in the child, and cause him to feel uncomfortable. The mother's diet can be changed, to find out why the child is not feeling well. Such as reducing milk products and caffeine, and if there is no difference after the changes made, you can return to the usual diet, being careful to avoid spicy foods, or that cause gas, such as onions and cabbage.
Find out why the baby is crying:
There are many reasons why a child cries, including hunger. It is necessary to determine the times for feeding the child, or to check his temperature, to wear clothes appropriate for the air temperature, to check the child’s diapers, if they are dirty or clean, and to check whether the child is sick or injured. If the child is younger than two months and has a fever, the doctor should be contacted immediately.
